Accessible Baby Facilities
A place where you can find changing tables and everything you need to change a baby's nappy and clothes, that can be used by a wheelchair user or other disabled users, alone or with assistance.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking bays and/or blue badge parking is within 50 meters of the entrance.
Accessible Toilets
An accessible toilet that can be used by a wheelchair user or other disabled users, alone or with assistance.
Adapted Information
Information is available in a choice of accessible formats, for example handouts, audio form, Easy Read, Large print, Braille.
Assistance Animals
An assistance animal is a specially trained animal that helps disabled people perform specific tasks.
Audio Description
Audio Description (AD) is additional audio commentary that explains what’s happening on stage, screen, or in an exhibition.
Captioning
Captions are a text version of spoken words, sound effects, and non-verbal elements.
Changing Places Toilet
Changing Places toilets are larger accessible toilets with equipment such as hoists, privacy screens, adult-sized changing benches, peninsula toilets and space for carers.
Chilled Performance
The event is made more relaxed and welcoming, for example by keeping the lights on and allowing people to move around or take breaks. The performance or activity itself is not changed.
Dementia Friendly
Dementia-friendly performances, events, or exhibition are sensory-adapted to support audiences living with Dementia, their families and carers.
Hearing Loops and Headsets
Location-based hearing enhancement that works with visitors' own hearing aids to amplify sound, like a Loop system. Hearing enhancement headsets are specialised devices that amplify sound.
No Strobe Lighting / Haze Effects
There will be no strobe lighting or haze effects included within the performance.
Quiet Spaces
A sensory or quiet space provides individuals with a controlled and calm sensory experience. Describe how to access the room, as well as what visitors might find here. For example, dimable lighting, sofas, blankets, books, or anything else.
Relaxed Performance
Both the stage and auditorium or activity are adapted to create a more comfortable experience. Sound, lighting, and effects may be adjusted, and the environment is more flexible. For example lights stay on, and people can move around, leave, or return at any time.
Sign language
Sign languages are visual means of communicating using gestures, facial expression, and body language.
Step-free / Level Access
It is possible to enter and move around the space without using steps or stairs.
Wheelchair Accessible
Can be accessed by people who use wheelchairs, with wide enough doors, step-free routes and accessible lifts where needed.
