Jo Gillam Freelance

With relevant post-graduate qualifications, lifelong familial experience of disability, and many years working with cultural and museum sites, I’m passionate about sharing our heritage with everyone through great, inclusive experiences. My specialisms include

• Creative teaching for visitors and producing learning programmes at and for sites. I deliver education both on-site and as outreach, mostly to schools/colleges (formal learning) and with families (informal learning such as workshops). I also work with particular audience groups heritage organisations wish to engage with.

• Training and advising teams on disability/neurodiversity access. This includes delivering courses to increase understanding and making recommendations for improvements to services and physical environments.

• Researching and writing interpretation material and activities.
I often combine the above. For example, devising a sensory trail for a site and training staff members on sensory needs, researching untold histories and working collaboratively with people today with similar lived experiences to share these more widely in heritage settings. I’m based in the East of England.
