They help reach broader and more diverse audiences, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives while building strong community ties. Collaboration allows access to new expertise, resource sharing, and increased visibility. It fosters innovation and enhances your reputation as an inclusive, community-driven space. The right partnership can support your organisation&#8217;s long-term growth and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collaborative efforts can take various forms. A <strong>formal partnership<\/strong> involves agreeing on the work outline and goals, followed by signing an agreement among all involved organisations. In contrast, an <strong>informal partnership<\/strong> entails working together toward shared goals without formalising details in a proposal. A <strong>critical friend relationship<\/strong> offers support through honest and constructive feedback, aiming for shared growth. Listening means being willing to do things differently. Be honest and transparent. Share your goals, timelines, and decision-making processes. Clearly outline any factors that might influence your decisions, like financial pressures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be clear about roles. Set clear terms of reference so that everyone understands their role and responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clarify roles by setting clear terms of reference. Share your organisation\u2019s expertise, for example, about the feasibility of an approach, so that your partners and collaborators have all the information they need to make an informed contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-ace-heading\">Resource sharing<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sharing resources can make collaborative projects more sustainable and cost-effective. Consider the resources that both organisations can offer to the project. There might be things that your partner organisation(s) are doing to make their own buildings or work accessible that you could adapt for your needs. Your partners might challenge you to go further with your accessibility efforts or explore a whole new area of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consider how you will share what you learn together. Seek opportunities to learn from best practices used by other organisations. For example, there might be a venue network or access group in your sector or locality that you can join to exchange best practice with similar organisations. Your local authority is a good place to start to connect with local <span data-definition=\"disabled-led-organisations\" data-definition-id=\"4814\" title=\"Disabled-led organisations\" data-definition-name=\"Disabled-led organisations\" class=\"ace-definition-inserter\"><\/span>. Organisations like Disability Rights UK and Shaping Our Lives also provide listings of disabled-led organisations and information on how they work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-ace-heading\">Working with access consultants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working with access consultants is another way to benefit from the expertise of disabled people. You might collaborate with an access consultant to assess the accessibility of your venue or your working methods strategically. Additionally, you may hire consultants with specific skills and experience for individual projects or alongside access providers. Be prepared to create accessible formats of key documents and provide important information in accessible ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, you could make an <span title=\"Easy Read\" data-definition-name=\"Easy Read\" data-definition=\"easy-read\" data-definition-id=\"4354\" class=\"ace-definition-inserter\"><\/span> version of a feasibility study, or an audio version or summary of a report. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/allin.online\/standard\/customer-service\/planning-a-visit\/information-formats\/\">Customer Service 1.02 Information Formats<\/a> for further information on making formats accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any meetings or workshops must also be accessible. For example, you should share key information with everyone at least a week before meetings so they have time to process it. Consider creating guidelines for presenters to ensure their presentations meet everyone\u2019s needs. Ensure that meetings take place in accessible locations and include regular breaks. When at least 51% of the senior management team and board identify as disabled. Usually guided by lived experience of disabled people and centre disabled perspectives.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Easy Read<\/h4><div><p>An alternative version of written information that uses simple words and pictures to help someone understand.
