This includes how you commission, programme, employ or represent disabled creatives if you are a non-disabled-led organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Base your approach on what you know about your audiences and the representation of disability in your artform. It should reflect the lived experiences of disabled people and involve input from your team. See <a href=\"https:\/\/allin.online\/standard\/creative-and-cultural-experiences\/access-to-opportunities\/access-to-opportunities\/\">Creative and Cultural Experiences 2.02 Access to Opportunities<\/a> for more guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your aim might be to promote equality by showcasing a broader range of people and providing opportunities for those who are often excluded. You could focus on ensuring that your programme and its participants reflect the demographic of your area. Your goal might be to give opportunities for people to see their lived experiences represented through diverse creative and cultural activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might also aim to prioritise disabled people\u2019s perspectives to challenge stereotypes or to stimulate discussion and debate around inequality and social justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could express this as a statement or artistic policy about disability equity and equality, or include it in your access policy. <a href=\"https:\/\/arconline.co.uk\/about-us\/what-we-do\/artistic-policy-3\/cultural-shift-artistic-policy\/\">Read Arc Stockton\u2019s Cultural Shift artistic policy<\/a> as an example. However you choose to express your commitment, consider how you will communicate it to your audience, including artists, staff, and partners or collaborators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regardless of the size of your organisation, you should produce a statement outlining your organisational approach to commissioning or programming disabled-led work. The goals you set and the actions you plan to take can then be aligned with the size and capacity of your organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-ace-heading\">Involving disabled people<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should be able to explain how you include disabled people in your decision-making processes during the planning, selection, and scheduling stages. See <a href=\"https:\/\/allin.online\/standard\/creative-and-cultural-experiences\/strategic-commitment\/partnerships-and-collaboration\/\">Creative and Cultural Experiences 1.02 Partnerships and Collaborations<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/allin.online\/standard\/creative-and-cultural-experiences\/access-to-opportunities\/decision-making-groups\/\">Creative and Cultural Experiences 2.04 Decision-Making Groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Explain how you ensure disabled people are leading or closely involved when work centres on disability as a theme or key feature. Be clear about your definition of \u2018disabled-led\u2019. This usually means organisations that involve disabled people at the decision-making level. For example, in roles such as artistic director, chief executive, board member, or trustee. <span data-definition=\"disabled-led-organisation\" data-definition-id=\"4350\" title=\"Disabled-led organisation\" data-definition-name=\"Disabled-led organisation\" class=\"ace-definition-inserter\"><\/span> are shaped by the lived experience, perspectives and values of disabled people. They often focus on disability culture, challenging ableism and increasing access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Arts Council of England have sometimes defined this as an organisation where at least 51% of the board and senior management team identify as disabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outline how you ensure that disabled experts are involved in developing accessible audience provisions across all your work.
