The creative cultural organisation must show that it is innovating or influencing accessibility standards in its local community or across the UK. A Level 4 Award is not about specific criteria. Instead, it requires evidence that the organisation is exceeding expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&nbsp;could influence accessible practice&nbsp;in&nbsp;reaching potential audiences by:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>embedding access in your marketing plan and feeding this into campaign and project planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>proactively offering or discussing accessible formats and ways to reach audiences with external promoters, production companies or other visiting organisations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>including access as an agenda item in all project and campaign meetings and reviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>seeking partnerships and collaborations with local DPOs to help you build audiences and refine your practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sharing your practice with peer organisations in your locality or artform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-ace-heading\"><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"definitions_list\" class=\"wp-block-ace-definitions-list bg_white\"><h3>Definitions and acronyms<\/h3><div class=\"ace-definitions-list bg_grey inner-padding\"><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Adapted performances or presentations<\/h4><div><p>An instance where additional access provision (e.g. a BSL interpretation, or audio description) is added to an experience usually at certain times, on certain days or for certain performances only.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Audio described<\/h4><div><p>Narration that describes visual elements of a live experience or video. Audio description describes important visual details such as costume, set, location, facial expressions, body language and actions.<\/p>\n<p>It can be delivered live through speakers or a headset to people at an event or show, or as a live or pre-recorded audio described tour (for example at a museum). It can also be integrated into the script of a play or a voiceover, or delivered by a character. In a digital context, such as cinema or video, it can be delivered as a separate audio track or integrated into a script or voiceover.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>British Sign Language<\/h4><div><p>British Sign Language (BSL) is a visual language used by the Deaf community in the UK. BSL uses hand shapes, body movements, facial expressions and mouth shapes to communicate. It has its own grammar and structure which is not the same as spoken English.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Captioning<\/h4><div><p>A text display of the spoken words and important sound elements of a performance or video. This is usually shown on a screen or caption unit, or integrated into the set so that people can follow along. Captions can be delivered by a captioner in the venue, or remotely. Captions can be pre-scripted or produced live depending on the type of event.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Deaf clubs<\/h4><div><p>These are community spaces where deaf people use sign language (like BSL or ISL) as the primary way of communicating. They are hubs to bridge social connections, cultural exchange and create a strong sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Disabled People\u2019s Organisations<\/h4><div><p>A group that is run by and for disabled people. DPOs often speak up for disabled people, protect disabled people\u2019s rights and make sure disabled people have a say in decisions. DPOs understand disability because they are led by people with lived experience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Easy Read<\/h4><div><p>An alternative version of written information that uses simple words and pictures to help someone understand. Easy Read is often used by people with a Learning Disability.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ace-definition-item\"><h4>Irish Sign Language<\/h4><div><p>Irish Sign Language (ISL) is a visual language used by the Deaf community in Ireland. ISL uses hand shapes, body movements, facial expressions and mouth shapes to communicate.
